2025 STEM & STEAM Youth Camp

The MCJCF STEM & STEAM Program, initiated by the late Don Smith, founder of the Missouri City Juneteenth Celebration Foundation (MCJCF), aims to provide opportunities for students to explore tech careers that often lack diversity.
Students who participated in MCJCF STEM & STEAM Youth Camp received laptop computers provided by AT&T, in collaboration with MCJCF. Charles Stein, Director of External and Legislative Affairs at AT&T; Etta Smith, MCJCF Board Chairwoman and Anthony Snipes, MCJCF Board President, presented laptop computers to students from Elkins, Marshall, and Hightower High schools.
AT&T, a long-time supporter of MCJCF, aiming to bridge the digital divide, donated funds for computers and allowed 26 high school students to explore drone technology through demonstrations and hands-on drone operating experiences. Tony Reid, co-founder of Drone Cadets Learning Lab, and his team presented drone demonstrations and instructions as part of an initiative to broaden the prospects of tech careers for students in our community.
Silicon Harlem, a new learning lab opened with a major donation from AT&T, allowed the students to explore new technology. The aim is to bridge the digital divide. Gleaming Screens offers local kids the latest technology, including augmented reality and coding. This nonprofit organization works with AT&T and the National Urban League to expose students to drone technology. This program aims to provide diverse opportunities for kids to explore tech careers that often lack diversity.
Chief Metaverse Officer Henzé Gustave gave students a demonstration, assisted by Joe Desiderio, Grace Cantwell, Clayton Banks, Dr. Tameka Pierre-Louis, AIA, Brian Blough, EdD; Charles Stein, CBS, Jessi Mitchell, Dane Sealey, and Dan Sloat, JD/MBA.
