A Special Tribute
Donald Ray Smith, Sr.

                                    DONALD RAY SMITH, SR.

Founder of the Missouri City Juneteenth Celebration Foundation

In honoring the legacy of Don Smith, Sr., founder of the Missouri City Juneteenth Celebration Foundation, we remember a dedicated leader who significantly impacted our community.

As a former Missouri City Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tem, Don championed the importance of Juneteenth for over two decades, developing a cherished federal holiday celebration. His annual events not only highlighted the invaluable contributions of African Americans but also provided scholarships to empower the youth of Fort Bend County in their pursuit of higher education. We celebrate his vision and commitment to fostering unity and progress in Missouri City. Don's vision and legacy live on!

We pay tribute to the Missouri City Juneteenth Celebration Foundation’s
founder, Don Smith, who passed away in October 2022. For over 20 years, Don reminded us of the
importance of celebrating what has become a federal holiday, Juneteenth. More importantly, the MCJCF celebrations bring positive attention to African Americans' significant contributions to our society.
His vision and legacy live on.
